We start with the war in Afghanistan. The last U.S. troops now look set to leave the troubled country in a matter of months.
アフガニスタンでの戦争（の話題）から始めます。最後のアメリカ軍が今、問題を抱えた国（アフガニスタン）をあと数か月足らずで去ることが確実視されています。
A senior administration official says President Joe Biden wants the drawdown to be finished by September 11. That will be exactly 20 years after the terrorist attacks that triggered a U.S. invasion.
政権の高官によれば、ジョー・バイデン大統領は９月１１日までに撤退を終えたいということです。この日は、アメリカ軍の侵攻のきっかけとなったテロ攻撃からちょうど２０年になります。
There are still roughly 2,500 American forces in Afghanistan.

A senior administration official told reporters on Tuesday that Washington will continue to support peace talks with the Taliban after the withdrawal and focus on other security challenges such as China.

The White House says Biden will make an announcement about the timeline for the withdrawal on Wednesday.
