An NHK poll shows only 16 percent of respondents favor holding the postponed Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics as scheduled for this summer.
- ＮＨＫの世論調査によれば、回答者のわずか１６％が、延期されている東京オリンピック・パラリンピックを予定どおり今年の夏に開催することに賛成しています。
This contrasts sharply with the close to 80 percent who say the Games should be canceled or postponed again because of the coronavirus.
- これは、東京大会は新型コロナウイルスのために中止あるいはさらに延期すべきだと答えている８０％近くの回答者と著しく対照をなしています。
NHK asked whether the Olympic and Paralympic Games should be held in 2021 in the poll. More than 1,200 people responded.
- ＮＨＫは、東京オリンピック・パラリンピックが２０２１年に開催されるべきかどうかを世論調査で聞きました。１,２００人を超える人々が回答しました。
Sixteen percent said the Games should be held as scheduled. Thirty-eight percent said they should be canceled, and 39 percent said they should be further postponed.

Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide said last week that he's determined to hold the Games. He insisted that it'll be an opportunity to show that humans can overcome the virus.

Suga agreed with the chief of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach in November that the Tokyo Games will be held as planned in the summer of 2021.
